Role Summary/Purpose:
This role presents a unique opportunity to be responsible for the development and performance of the entire Wabtec supply base in a specific region, across all commodities. It requires a driven leader with a multi-faceted skill set spanning sourcing, quality, engineering, and operations. The leader will be the field liaison between suppliers and Wabtec as it relates to capacity expansion (P&E), new component development, fulfillment, qualifications and overall performance. In times of surge, capacity expansion is critical; while in down cycles continuous improvement, lean and cost-out are paramount. This role is critical and will have significant visibility given the business imperative of operational excellence.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Supplier development: new suppliers, new product introductions, dual source, productivity projects, lean manufacturing, six sigma, etc
- Supplier performance: on-time delivery, quality, qualification timeliness, ramp cycle/demonstrated rate, progress to financial targets, workforce planning, etc
- Continuous improvement: development/performance/capacity tools, ITO-OTR process, forecasting, supplier engagement with Wabtec systems (SCC, etc.), root cause analysis on repeat concerns, corrective actions on delivery issues, other processes
- Project management: capacity expansion, PPAPs, WIP tracking, recovery plans, improvement/productivity projects, cost-out, blend management (+/-), LOBs
- Supplier capacity audits & analysis
- Cycle & lead time reduction, value-stream mapping, process flow
- Tier 2/sub-supplier management, material expediting
- Field liaison between Wabtec and supplier – transcends Sourcing, Fulfillment/Materials, Supplier Quality & Engineering
- Communicates regularly across supply chain functions & presents to leadership on key issues, value-add and maturation of suppliers/organization/processes
- Proactively monitor SIOP (Sales, Inv., and Oper. Plan) for alignment strategic support.
- Metrics: accuracy of capacity analyses versus performance, on-time delivery, defects per unit, premium transportation, qualification timeliness, ramp cycle, productivity/cost-out
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in Sourcing, Quality, Engineering or related field
