Job Description Summary
- The candidate shall be able to do Basic and Detail design of cable Tray layout for Powerhouse area, Pothead yard, Switchyard layout & DG layout. Active participation in basic design and detail design activities.
- Standardization and methodology aspects layout activity, E3D/PDMS Auto cad and preparation of BOM activity.
- Functional reporting to your Layout COE leader and operationally to the System Integrator
- A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team. For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Explains technical information to others.
- May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
Below activities shall be performed within stipulated time frame for basic & detail layout engineering.
- Design of Cable trays Layout for various type of hydro power plant using E3D & AutoCAD software.
- Cable tray network Modelling, Cable Tray Support modelling, Electrical equipment Modelling in E3D.
- Generate General arrangement drawings for cable Tray layout & erection drawing & Trench layout.
- Pothead yard / Switchyard layout detailing
- Knowledge of Cable Sizing & Cable Schedule & Distribution Board Schedule.
- Allotted work to be performed as per the defined schedule and budgeted manhours.
- To review customer civil structural design drawings, civil construction drawings.
- To review various vendor equipment drawings for layout interfaces & requirements.
- Review of various interfaces with internal/external client for various inputs /interface requirement & keep the record.
- Generate clash check report from E3D & resolve if any interference found.
- Knowledge of Earthing & Lighting layouts.
- Prepare Bill of material for various cable trays, cable tray supports & release in PLM tool.
- Good communication skill in English with written & verbal.
- Should involve in process improvement & project cost out activities.

- Good grasping power & able to understand fast the process/procedure.
- To deliver on time with quality work within stipulated time frame.
Educational Requirements
He or She should be an Engineering graduate in Mechanical / Electrical engineering with a dynamic professional with nearly 5 to 8 years or Diploma with 8 to 15yrs of good experience in layout Engineering of Hydro power plant or thermal power plant.
Should have strong oral and written communication skills in English. Ability to document, plan and execute.
Knowledge / Experience
He/she should have good experience in below activity,
- Expertise in basic and detail design engineering practices. Knowledge of E3D & AutoCAD, MS office, Excel & Power Point.
- He/she should have good knowledge about hydro power plant layout, equipment arrangement/layout & should be good knowledge about plant network layout (Cable Tray & other piping/HVAC ducting layout).
- Should have good knowledge about Cable Tray support engineering & Bill of materials.
- Project planning/scheduling, man-hours estimation, document checking.
Behavioural and Technical Skills / Competencies
- Should be good team member, sincere & co-operative.
- Should be able to work with more than one projects simultaneously.
- Should follow the company integrity program.
- should have knowledge about various STD codes of cabling materials, ducting, cable tray etc
- should have good knowledge about EHS/safety rules which shall be considered during layout engineering.
- If he/she had Basic knowledge of civil structural design (beam/column/slab/steel structure) which will be an added advantage.
