Project Engineer-Paper Machine Drives

This is a Project Engineer-Paper Machine Drives, reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager in Business Area - India Operations Centre, Process Automation (INOPC PA) based in Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad, Faridabad, India. You will be primarily responsible to design authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity.Complete assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects, cost effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements.
Your responsibilities
- Engineer & commission assigned projects in time and to provide technical service/ support to customers.
- Sizing or cross verification of the Low voltage drives / motors as per the customer’s load list or Motor & Component list.
- Optimize engineering of project within the agreed schedule.
- Prepare, study, and analyze existing system and execute revamp solutions.
- Preparation of list of documents, deliverables.
- Understand requirements of sub-system and coordinating with other engineering departments in getting it delivered as per application requirement.
- Preparation/approval of basic engineering drawings like SLD, GA, IGA, fabrication drawings etc., in case of building stand-alone drive panels (especially for cranes).
- Perform technical review (along with the lead) before document submission to ensure that delivered documents are as per the customer technical specification.
- Preparation of PM Drives controls application software and necessary graphics.
- Basic knowledge on tools like ACAD, ePlan, eBase is an added advantage.
- Basic knowledge on electrical design standards and international standards like IEC, IS etc., is an added advantage.
Your background
- Minimum B.Tech/ B.E/ Diploma from a reputed University with First Class in Electrical/ Electrical & Electronics engineering.
- 5-6 years of relevant work experience in drives solutions by similar suppliers or Paper Industry.
- Should have good paper making process knowledge with ability to relate the role of control systems and drives in the process. Should have thorough knowledge of drive controls for Paper Machine and winders in a paper industry.
- Knowledge of AC/ DC Drives (Converters/ Inverters), AC/ DC motors, DCS/ PLC HW/SW Components.
- Knowledge of IT/ Network/ Peripherals like UPS, Printer, PC’s, Server components of DCS.
- knowledge in application programming & HMI development/ modifications for PLC/ DCS systems.
- Knowledge on different communication protocols used between PLC & Drives or in automation.
- Experience of commissioning/ trouble shooting/ servicing drive systems preferably in/for metal Industry & industrial cranes.
- Knowledge of below ABB systems is desirable -ABB ACS880, ACS800 multi drive, standalone drives, ABB DCS800 LVDC drives, ABB Legacy drives like ACV700, DCV700, DCS600, ACS600, etc., ABB automation systems like 800xA, Advant, Compact HMI etc.
