The Purchasing Strategy & Digitalization (PS&D) function within Volvo Group Purchasing (GTP) is a Centre of Excellence. We are responsible for driving and facilitating the strategic direction of purchasing on behalf of Executive Management Team.
PS&D are, together with relevant line functions, driving efficiency within digitalization, governance, harmonization, group synergies, continuous improvements, and digital & IT projects to enable business value. We work proactively with change management and transformation in collaboration with GTP line functions.
Head of Purchasing Strategy & Digitalization is also hosting Volvo Group Purchasing India organization on behalf of CPO of Volvo Group & Head of GTP.

As an SQE, you are someone who is responsible to perform quality assurance activities with external suppliers of Volvo Group in order to secure purchased components meet technical specifications. You have the genuine technical knowledge and several years of professional experience in Surface Treatment (coating) application processes and its management within automotive business.
You enjoy the varying tasks of an SQE role, has a strong commitment, work well both alone and in teams, and can handle a high pace. Since traveling to suppliers is a frequent activity, you enjoy traveling and meeting new people.

Main Activities & Responsibilities:
From the sourcing stage up to the running production, the main activities and responsibilities are:
To evaluate Surface Treatment (coating) supplier lines and facilities, managing their development plan up to the excellence level required by the Volvo standards.
To support the new part developments, securing the suppliers ability to coat the parts according to the specification on robust manufacturing processes.
To lead the supplier continuous improvements as well as being entitled to steer strong reaction in case of supplier performance deviation.
To contribute to the Surface Treatment Supplier Quality Global Network, working on new standard inputs, continuously improving the assessment tool and permanently monitoring the new technology and their opportunities.
The SQE builds and develops a large network of partners from Suppliers, Buyers, Engineering, Standard Group, Production Plants, Project Stakeholders, Warranty Department, etc.
Work in close coordination with the Global Technical Specialist for Surface Treatment to have common calibration and have a clear roadmap for Lead auditor training and approval.
Additional responsibility of performing supplier audits through SEM (Supplier Evaluation Model) Sustainability audits (CSR) after internal training and Lead auditor approval
Actively support process harmonization and best practice sharing within GTP SNQ (Supply Network Quality) organization
Competence and Experience:
Academic degree about Chemical, surface treatment chemistry, organic and or inorganic coating
Experience upon the Surface Treatment (coating) application processes and its management within automotive business
Good knowledge and practice of automotive quality standards and tools, such as IATF 16949, APQP – PPAP, process audit and problem solving
Prior experience in supplier quality is an added advantage
Excellent decision-making skills, considering risks and opportunities, with an ownership mindset
Good English communication skills, both orally and in writing
Continuous Improvement and Excellence mindset with good communication skill
Excellent interpersonal and networking skills - true connector working in eco-system
Positive and collaborative mindset and strong energy to contribute to the success of the Volvo Group
