About the job
At Google, our philosophy is build it, break it and then rebuild it better. That thinking is at the core of how we approach testing at Google. Unlike roles with similar names at the other companies, Test Engineers at Google aren't manual testers - you write scripts to automate testing and create tools so developers can test their own code. As a Test Engineer, you navigate Google's massive codebase, identify weak spots and constantly design better and creative ways to break software and identify potential problems. You'll have a huge impact on the quality of Google's growing suite of products and services.
In this role, you will focus on tooling and implementing testing that will improve the security and reliability of engineering services and applications and building infrastructure to meet Google's standards for safeguarding Google users data.
Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.
Responsibilities
- Define the technical strategy and convert it to a roadmap that can be delivered across technology stacks and team boundaries.
- Establish tools and infrastructure to produce immediate system health signals to maximize our opportunity to react quickly when problems arise and improve the overall deployment pipeline efficiency.
- Build test infrastructure and frameworks for test automation and work with test environments. Create test strategies, test planning, and implement coverage for existing and new functionality.
- Create testing processes, contribute to bug triaging, and help create efficient release pipelines.
- Promote a healthy developer testing culture and help promote best testing practices. Collaborate with the cross-functional teams in the Legal ecosystem.
