Job Description Summary at GE 

Responsible for activities related to the commissioning of Hydro power project components on customer site, from site mobilization and commissioning work, as well as management activities related to this scope. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures.

Job Description

Responsibilities and Accountabilities at General Electric 

Operational

  • Management of resources required such as manpower, tools, consumables etc. required at site for each activity.
  • Identify the checks, and tests to be conducted with respect to control sheets of each BOP Mechanical package.
  • Identify the interfaces and address all issues and define action plan.
  • Prepare site specific risk assessment for every activity and get validated by EHS Officer
  • Review EHS requirements and arrange to fulfil the requirements as per risk assessment and ensure safe working methods are implemented and adopted.
  • Lead site safety audits and furnish EHS monthly reports.
  • Review the drawings and documents; prepare the materials requirements including consumables for each BOP Mechanical packages.
  • Material and consumable verification including preservation and ensuring the timely identification and notification for each BOP Mechanical Packages assigned.
  • Tools and plants, equipment’s, special tools, precession tools, measuring instruments etc. verification and ensuring the timely identification and notification for each BOP Mechanical Package assigned.
  • Testing requirements verification and timely identification and notification for each BOP Mechanical Package assigned.
  • Quality requirements verification and timely identification and notification for each BOP Mechanical Package assigned.
  • Guiding the team, stage verification of activities and ensuring the works are being carried as per the drawing requirements and quality requirements for one or more BOP Mechanical packages assigned to individual Supervisor.

EOT Crane. Cooling Water System. Drainage and Dewatering System. Fire Fighting System. Compressed Air System. HVAC. Piping. Mechanical workshop. Mechanical / Electrical Material handling equipment.

  • Guiding the team, stage verification of activities and ensuring the works are being carried as per the drawing requirements and quality requirements for system assigned.
  • Guide the team and ensure every individual are followed the EHS requirements for respective BOP Mechanical packages assigned to individual Supervisor.
  • Guide and execute the activities for timely delivery with quality and safety for respective BOP Mechanical packages assigned to individual Supervisor.
  • Guide and execute timely and quality reporting with sketches / photos for respective BOP Mechanical packages assigned to individual Supervisor.
  • Guide and execute timely completion of documentation including red mark drawings for respective BOP Mechanical packages assigned to individual candidate.

Managerial (Budget / Administration / People).

  • Ensure all required resources are provided to the team on-time.
  • Lead the team at site and ensure the co-ordeal relation among all the team members.
  • Ensure punctuality and discipline by all team members.
  • People organisation with prior planning.
  • Client and sub-contractor personal relationship.
  • Registering additional works and requirements for opportunities and risk.
  • Ensure recorded inputs for claim management and subcontractor claims

Functional/transverse (optional)

  • Provide structure feedback with experiences and lessons learned in the duration of every assembly or installation.

Specific Functional/Technical authority (besides DoA):

  • Access to all drawings and documents and information needed to execute defined tasks and responsibilities.
  • Freedom to initiate resource planning and mobilisation as per the works planning and activity wise requirement.
  • Freedom to decide on the selection of the Personnel assigned to a project, based on qualifications and specific activity requirements.
  • Stop the activity if found there is a risk for personal working or to the material or to the environment.

Measurement / Key Performance Indicators

  • Pro-activity in organising site activities.
  • On-time delivery of all activities.
  • Quality ensured never compromised.
  • Providing all supporting documents for Handling of Claims from different stakeholders
  • EHS is taken care at all levels.

Further Objectives, Targets and Performance Measurements are defined on a yearly basis.

Educational Requirements

Mandatory:

  • University degree (comparable with bachelor or master) in Mechanical Engineering

Desirable:

  • Planning (MS Projects / Primavera).

Mandatory: Experience

  • 8-12 Years’ Experience in Installation and Commissioning of Mechanical Packages of Hydro Power Plants
  • Installation of HVAC, Fire Fighting systems
  • Commissioning of Different Mechanical Packages of Hydro power plants like Pumps, Motors, Compressors, Fire fighting systems and HVAC plants.

Desirable:

  • Balancing of Rotating equipment’s
